Amb. Badr:17,000 projects introduced under National Initiative for Smart Green Projects

Ambassador Hisham Badr, National Coordinator for the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, said around 17,000 projects were introduced from various governorates in Egypt under the initiative, noting that some of these projects started out very small but have developed to reach an international stage.

He made the remarks during the 7th Forum on Strategies for Transition to Green Economy – dubbed the 7th Green Economy Forum – which kicked off on Tuesday under the theme of “The Transition C-Panel”.

Badr highlighted the importance of linking digital transformation with the green transition, noting that this idea was introduced during the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) through the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects.

He said there was no clear strategy for social responsibility in Egypt until the political leadership issued directives to the Ministry of Planning to draw up a national strategy in this regard.

He explained that social responsibility is not limited to the social dimension, however, it goes beyond to boost company profits.

Through this strategy, the government aims to solve existing societal problems, while private sector companies play a voluntary role in this context, thus promoting the culture of participation and encouraging more companies to engage in responsible community work, Badr highlighted.
