GOEIC head urges Egyptian companies to get ready for EU’s carbon footprint requirements

Essam El Naggar, Chairman of the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC), highlighted that Egyptian companies should get ready for the European Union’s carbon footprint requirements.

He underscored the importance of developing tracking and disclosure systems in accordance with international standards to ensure the sustainability of Egyptian exports to European markets.

Regarding the electric vehicle industry, Naggar said the state has indeed started manufacturing electric batteries, which represent a cornerstone of this industry, stressing the need to cope with global developments and modern technologies.

The GOEIC chairman made the remarks during the 7th Forum on Strategies for Transition to Green Economy – dubbed the 7th Green Economy Forum – which kicked off on Tuesday under the theme of “The Transition C-Panel”.

He noted that the Egyptian state is working to facilitate foreign trade by activating operations at all customs clearance agencies throughout the week.

He noted that the engineering industries sector has witnessed remarkable growth, with its growth rate rising from 3.6% to 12% during the period from January to July 2025, reflecting real progress in this vital sector.
